Fishing Location

Canavieiras is one of the top 3 big game fishing destinations of the world, because:

1 Many 500+ lbs marlin catched year around 2 On average 4 big blue marlin bites a day and many more raises
3 The average size and quantity of marlin catched is world’s largest 4 The sea is a lot calmer than many other places in South America
5 The average size and quantity of wahoo and dorado is large and the many tuna we catch always give a good fight 6 The fishing grounds and drop offs start already within 13 nautical miles from shore!

The fishing grounds

Royal Charlotte Bank
Royal Charlotte Bank
Where do we start:
The fishing here on the Royal Charlotte Bank is just that, it is a Bank that starts at 13 nautical miles from the coast and then runs east for 58 nautical miles off the Coast.

The northern edge rapidly drops to 2000 meter, with the southern current hitting that edge, creating a nutrient food supply to feed schools of all varieties of small bait fish from bonitos to slightly larger baitfish to the small tuna which all providing food for the larger pelagic species, like large Tuna, Dorado, Amberjack, Wahoo, Sailfish, White Marlin, which in turn supply the food for our large Blue Marlin.

The fishing for big blues is very good year round (except for a few windy days a year). The migration of Marlin also runs through here from Sept to Dec, with large numbers of fish passing here. To show you that we are convinced we can catch you fish, we give “no fish guarantee”, no fish caught with the boat that day means refund of your money!

Other fishing:

Bottom fishing
For large amberjacks and other large predators of the deep. We fish with electric reels (or hand reels if you would prefer). We do either jigging or live baiting in the deep. It’s an adrenalin drill to fish for the huge amberjacks and large tuna that are around in the deep of The Royal Charlotte Bank.

Snook and peacock bass fishing
With one of the largest mangrove systems of Brazil and an environmental protection of IBAMA, Canavieiras has very good snook and peacock bass fishing. With light tackle and a smaller boat we troll and cast for the many big snook and peacock bass that are around here. We go 30 km upriver, trolling or casting with lures or with natural and live baits and we would like to stress the beauty of this trip with lots of Atlantic rainforest plenty of birdlife and other animals around giving you an amazing experience.

River mouth fishing
In the river mouth we fish for a large variety of fish: tarpon, snook, etc. We use live prawns or other live bait for this type of fishing. The amount of bites and all the different fish species makes this an exciting way of fishing.

Spear fishing for large big game fishes (marlin not allowed)
Because of our cobalt blue waters with visibility of 35 meters and more and the amount of large game fish around, the Royal Charlotte Bank has first class spear fishing. Spear fishing for large game fish as dorado, tuna, wahoo, bonito, gives an absolute adrenalin thrill.
